Paul A. Van Dyke is an historian and author of The Canton Trade: Life and Enterprise on the China Coast, 1700–1845 (2005). He has spent many years researching various aspects of life, trade, and societies in the Pearl River Delta and Maritime Asia.

以蟲制蟲救草莓 農委會無農藥栽培

【台灣醒報記者鄭羿菲台北報導】艷紅色的草莓又香又甜，卻容易引來害蟲啃食，農委會推生物防治益蟲剋害蟲，讓民眾吃無農藥草莓。「用大量繁殖的草蛉，來防治草莓受蚜蟲侵害的效果，比使用農藥效果更好。」兩丘田農場主人謝其忠15日期望，生物防治的販價能夠再低一點。農委會苗栗改良場長呂秀英表示，「農民能使用天敵類益蟲來捕食害蟲，讓草莓可以無農藥長大。」

呂秀英15日在「菌制菌、蟲剋蟲、草莓安心吃」記者會上表示，農委會持續推廣「安全用藥」、「少農藥」及「有機」的種植方式，改良場也配合研究有關草蛉、小黑花椿象及黃斑粗喙椿象的大量繁殖技術，讓草莓常見的害蟲，如蚜蟲、葉蟎及斜紋夜蛾等，能夠不需要用農藥，就能長大。

「採草莓是農曆春節期間的休閒活動，但為了連續採收及防治害蟲，農場經常密集施藥，民眾採完草莓後還須要費工夫清洗。」呂秀英表示，苗栗有452公頃的草莓農場，約占全台91%，農民常用農藥不僅會造成環境汙染，還會讓害蟲有抗藥性，若生物防治能夠推廣，不僅是用最自然的方式來防蟲，讓農民有更健康的工作環境，更能讓民眾能夠吃的安心。

近年民眾興起食品安全意識，希望吃的水果農藥殘留能夠更低，謝其忠說，用大量繁殖的草蛉來防治蚜蟲的效果，比使用農藥效果更好，「能夠讓草莓農場朝向減少用農藥與安全用藥的方向發展，同樣價格的農藥及草蛉，我更希望用草蛉。」

「但更希望農委會能介入生物防治的使用成本。」謝其忠指出，之前推廣過的「捕食蟎」效果也很好，但技術轉移後，廠商賣的價格農民負荷不過來，以草莓1個農作期需要放2次蟲來說，價格比噴農藥還多，使得農民自然會選擇噴農藥，而不走向少用農藥的方式。
